With more than 25 films to her credit — quite a feat for an actress playing lead characters — Vedhika is busy with interesting films that are gearing up for release in the coming days.

In an exclusive interview with South First, the actress who featured in such films as Paradesi in Tamil, and Shivalinga in Kannada, among others, speaks about her upcoming projects, the current exciting trend in the Indian film industry that is getting global recognition, and much more.

Kickstarting the new year with multiple projects, the actress said that she was pinning great hopes on her latest Kannada film, Gana, for which she has wrapped up the shoot. The film is in the post-production stage.

Vedhika will share the screen with Prajwal Devaraj in Gana. The film also marks the debut in Kannada of Telugu writer and director Hari Prasad Jakka.

Gana has a unique story that had great scope for performance in my role. I have great expectations from it as it is definitely different from the roles I have done so far in my career. It is certainly not a run-of-the-mill story, and the audience will enjoy its unique content and presentation,” Vedhika said.

On whether the movie will be released in multiple languages, the actress said that though Gana has a universal subject that will appeal to audiences beyond state boundaries, it is for the filmmakers to take a call on this count.

She also said that she was in talks with a few production houses on her next Kannada projects.

Apart from movies, Vedhika said that interactions and brand promotions on social media platforms have become a major part of what actors are expected to do in the digital era.

On the recent global success of films like KGF, Kantara, and RRR, the actress said that Indian filmmakers are focused more than ever, and have the utmost conviction to deliver a solid project.

“The aim has been to create extraordinary products… with surprising elements for the audience. Quality matters, and hence the West has started to take note of Indian films which are promoting our culture along with providing entertainment,” Vedhika remarked.

She said that it was an exciting time in the Indian film industry as any movie could be the next big project like KGF, Kantara, and RRR.

About pan-India movies, the Paradesi fame actress noteed that every movie made could be one — provided they are well made.

She wrapped up by sharing that she has been reading a lot of late when not busy with film projects and makes sure to spend some quality time with her pet dog whenever she is in Bengaluru.
