Enjoy Enjaami row Santhosh Narayanan AR Rahman

On the third anniversary of the “Enjoy Enjaami” song on Tuesday, 5 March, renowned music director Santosh Narayanan claimed that the artists involved in making the song did not yet make any revenue.

“Enjoy Enjaami” is a Tamil song written and composed by Santhosh Narayanan. It is sung by Dhee (debut single) and featured rapper Arivu.

The song was released under the music label Maajja, launched by Academy Award-winning music composer AR Rahman. It was released on 5 March 2021.

In a video shared on X, Santhosh Narayanan thanked the audience for the outstanding response to “Enjoy Enjaami“, which earned a billion streams on various platforms.

The music director, popularly known as SaNa, also claimed that the music label Maajja approached them and promised 100 percent rights, revenues, and royalties from the song. But the three artists — Dhee, Arivu, and himself — “received a zero cents”.

He also claimed that his YouTube channel was stolen!

I was only a mentor: AR Rahman

Reacting to this, music maestro AR Rahman clarified that his involvement with Maajja, the music platform he launched in 2021 — and its global music festival YAALL was limited to mentorship.

Rahman said he too received no financial benefit from “Enjoy Enjaami“. He added that he agreed to be a mentor because the platform aimed to take Tamil music global and cater to the international audience.

According to a report in Your Story, AR Rahman said the YAALL team disconnected from him after he did some promos and produced a song for the platform.

The Oscar winner also stated that the team did not keep him in the loop on various aspects he was promised. This involved other artists or the kind of agreements signed with them.

Rahman has always been a mentor: SaNa

Reacting to AR Rahman’s statement, Santhosh Narayanan shared that Rahman has always been a pillar of support without any expectations through the entire Maajja fiasco, and he was also a victim of many false promises and malice.

“Thank you, sir. Many indie artists including Arivu, Svdp, Dhee and many others including myself have also never been remitted our revenues in any form and have been bullied with emails,” Santhosh Narayanan wrote.

“I understand that emotions are high and would urge you all to support the indie artists in this juncture. I will definitely triple click on the entire episode with my mentor Pa Ranjith and rapper Arivu in the coming days and as many of you know, I wish the best for them with love and want to make sure all indie artists get their fair dues met soon. Here we come,” his post read.
