Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko blamed Vaathi actor Samyuktha for not attending the promotions of their upcoming movie Boomerang. He was addressing the film promotions in Kochi on Monday, 20 February.
Recently, Samyuktha dropped her surname of Menon which is an upper caste in Kerala.
When a journalist asked about this, Shine Tom Chacko reacted: “If somebody isn’t doing their work properly, what is the use in changing the name to Menon, Nair, Christian or Muslim? Everyone gets a name!”
The actor hastened to add: “We are not saying that her commitment was bad. But she must have felt that the work she did for the movie is not up to the mark and hence isn’t attending the promotions.”
He also pointed out that those who cooperated with film promotions have survived in the industry.
Boomerang’s producers Aji Medayil and Thoufeek R also found fault with Samyuktha for not attending the promotions.
The actress said she won’t do Malayalam movies again when, in fact, all her films are made with a budget of ₹35 crore. Moreover, our agreement included film promotions which she is not willing to do for reasons best known to her, the producer duo claimed.
Samyuktha performed well and has been extremely cooperative till now. But now, she is restraining from Boomerang promotions saying that Shine Tom Chacko would give enough content to the media, they alleged.
Boomerang is directed by Manu Sudhakaran. It also casts Dain Davis, Chemban Vinod Jose, and Baiju Santosh in key roles.
