Dil Pasand review: This Darling Krishna-starrer is just another run-of-the-mill comedy

It is the same old saga of an accidental affair which starts as a comedy and eventually turns into a love story and then a happy ending.

Dil Pasand or Dil Khush, a sweet puff mainly filled with coconut and tutti-frutti available in bakeries across India in various forms, is believed to have its origins in British pies with sweet or fruit fillings.

Wondering what the origin of a baked sweet dish has got to do with the movie Dil Pasand? Well, there is hardly any connection!

Even if any comparison must be drawn, then the dish Dil Pasand is sweet to eat and the movie Dil Pasand is hard to watch on the big screen.

Reason: It is just another run-of-the-mill comedy which can only be laughed at for its outdated storyline and average making.

It kicks off with the introduction of the protagonist, Santosh, played by Darling Krishna, who, we get to know, simply likes to kiss girls since his childhood.

Santosh, as a boy, when in his seventh standard, proposes to a girl. If that’s not enough for the audience to start yawning at the plot, it gets even more seriously laughable.

However, by the end of the opening credits, the hero is already in his prime with decent earnings in the IT sector and is set for his marriage.

Then comes the character Minchu, portrayed by Megha Shetty, who debuts in films post her successful stint on television with the popular Kannada soap Jothe Jotheyali.

Well, the elders agree and decide on the wedding after some comic relief in the sequences.

When everything seems perfect, Santhosh accidentally meets a girl in an inebriated condition, played by Nishvika Naidu. Under forced circumstances, he helps her stay in a lodge.

With a twist in the tale, Santosh has a 45-day waiting period which will seal his fate forever. To know what this 45-day waiting period is all about, you have to watch Dil Pasand at a theatre near you or wait till it hits the television or your smartphone soon.

A time-pass watch

Not all is lost for the film with a few good comic scenes found in the two-and-a-half-hour experience. But they are in limited quantities.

A large chunk of Dil Pasand is dominated by Darling Krishna and Nishvika. Debutante Megha Shetty, as the fiancé of the male lead, gets little screen space.

In total, Megha appears on the screen in little more than 10 scenes and that too for short periods.

Apart from the accidental affair, the director has packed in a couple of fights and songs to make it a complete commercial package. They come and they go!

In the end, the film has a surprise element with a star actor in a guest appearance, which fixes everything for a happy ending.

In all, Dil Pasand is a time-pass comedy which is best viewed (when it finally makes it to television) with a remote control to skip the boring parts.
