Actor Dhanush will play Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja in the world-famous music director’s official biopic.
The project, which will be the first of several films to be produced together by Connekkt Media and Mercuri, will hit the screens in 2025.
Announcing their partnership, Connekkt Media and Mercuri Movies said they intended to deliver multiple mega-budget films over the next three years and that Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja’s biopic would be the first of their films to be produced together.
Work on the movie will begin in October 2024, and the film was slated for release sometime in mid-2025, the production houses added.
However, the banners did not disclose whom they had signed up to direct the biopic.
The production houses also stated that their partnership, which is to be based out of Chennai and led by Ilamparithy Gajendran, will be a catalyst for bringing out the best in class global practices and structured studio production to the cinema and entertainment industry in the south.
Connekkt Media is the country’s first pan-India film studio with a focus on big-screen entertainers.
Mercuri Movies is a multinational conglomerate with business interests in Consulting, Technology, Sports, Media, and Entertainment, with a presence in the Americas, Canada, the Caribbean Islands and Europe besides India.
