National Award-winning singer and music composer Devi Sri Prasad announced his India tour, delighting fans on World Music Day (21 June). Known for his electrifying concerts, the composer, shared a video on social media, showcasing highlights from his previous international tours to Malaysia, the USA, Australia, UAE, and the UK, culminating in the announcement of his India tour.

Although he didn’t reveal the first city he will perform in, Devi Sri Prasad teased fans with a challenge, and those who correctly guess the city’s name will receive a free concert ticket.

The announcement was captioned, “Are you ready to celebrate with the rockstar?”

On the professional front, Devi Sri Prasad has recently captivated audiences with viral tracks from the upcoming film Pushpa: The Rule (2024). His compositions, “Pushpa Pushpa” and “The Couple Song” are topping the charts.

Pushpa: The Rule is a Telugu action drama, directed and written by Sukumar, and produced by Naveen Yerneni and Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar, under the Mythri Movie Makers banner.

The film stars Allu Arjun in the lead role, alongside Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Dhananjaya, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, and Rao Ramesh in pivotal roles.

It is the second installment in the Pushpa series and the sequel to Pushpa: The Rise (2021).

In love with sound technology

In an interview, Devi Sri Prasad expressed his fascination with sound technology. He was one of the first music directors to experiment with 5.1 surround sound and DTS. “There are blockbusters, and then there are memorable blockbusters. I’ll be truly happy if people still remember a song three, five, or even ten years from now. That means the song has made an impact.”

Devi Sri Prasad reflected on his evolution as an artist over the years, in another conversation. “I’ve witnessed the evolution of technology, changes in lyric writing, and the shift in the words people use. Lyrics have become more conversational, and the hooks of songs are now based on the language people use in everyday life.”

The excitement factor

Devi Sri Prasad, further, believes that excitement is the most important aspect of music. “It’s not the technique but the emotion that matters. You never know what will resonate with people. It starts with carrying the emotion from a film’s narration into a song; transforming it into lyrics, getting it sung, and then having it filmed. Throughout this entire process, maintaining that core emotion is crucial, and it’s not an easy task.”

Beyond this, Devi Sri Prasad, is set to showcase his musical talent in several upcoming projects, including Suriya’s Kanguva, Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh, Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly, Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel, and Dhanush’s Kubera.
