Renu Desai is coming back to Tollywood after 18 years and will play a pivotal role in the Ravi Teja film Tiger Nageswara Rao — his first pan-India debut.
In the film, directed by Vamsee, Renu appears as the real-life revolutionary Hemalatha, a social activist who fought untouchability through her writings.
Ravi’s title role is also based on the real-life character of a thief in a village.
Renu acted in two Tollywood films — Badri (2000) Johnny and Badri (2003), both opposite Pawan Kalyan. She later married him and quit films.
After six years of marriage, the couple separated.
Renu then worked in Marathi films as producer-director and even made a guest appearance in a Telugu serial on Zee Telugu.
Written and directed by Vamsee, Tiger Nageswara Rao is produced by Abhishek Agarwal and presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal. Nupur Sanon and Gayatri Bharadwaj are seen in prominent roles.
While her fans have for long been eagerly awaiting her return to Tollywood, the producers of the film and even industry insiders seemed excited about her comeback.
Team #TigerNageswaraRao, the twitter official handle of the upcoming film, said that “the much loved actor will be seen as ‘Hemalatha Lavanam'” in the film, along with clip.
Industry insider Taran Adarsh, too, tweeted about Renu Desai’s return to Tollywood and shared a glimpse of the actor’s character in the movie.
