The project was supposed to be produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films; Parthiban starts dubbing for ‘Ponniyin Selvan-2’.
Dhanush is all set to direct a film where he will act alongside Vishnu Vishal and SJ Suryah for the Sun Pictures banner, a source told South First.
Rumours about the movie were doing rounds ever since the actor turned a producer by floating his own production house — Wunderbar Films.
In fact, Vishnu Vishal confirmed in 2018 that he would be part of the film being produced by Dhanush under Wunderbar Films. However, the production house did not bankroll any movie since Maari 2 in 2018.
While Pa Paandi (2017) marks Dhanush’s directorial debut, the actor was supposed to direct Naan Rudran wherein he was to share the screen space with Nagarjuna, Aditi Rao Hydari and Anu Emmanuel. However, the project got shelved after the first schedule.
Naan Rudran was a pan-Indian project where Nagarjuna was to play a character that existed 600 years back. The Tamil-Telugu bilingual also stars Sarath Kumar in a key role.

It took off soon after Dhanush finished Asuran (2019). Soon after getting signed up by the makers, music director Sean Roldan announced that like Baahubali changed the course of Telugu cinema, this film too would change the course of Tamil cinema.
Initially, Rajinikanth was to play the lead but he backed off as the project involved many heavy-duty action scenes.
Meanwhile, Dhanush was committed to directing a flick for Thenandal Films’ Murali. But it too was shelved due to financial issues.
Now, Lyca Productions is bankrolling a pan-Indian film produced by Murali and directed by Sundar C. Titled Sangamitra, the entire pre-production work cost of the flick has been settled by Lyca Productions itself.
In the wake of this development, rumours are agog that Murali would revive Dhanush’s Naan Rudran, too.
Parthiban began the dubbing works for Ponniyin Selvan-2. He plays Chinna Pazhuvettaraiyar in this Mani Ratnam’s directorial.
