CinemaSnippets: Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ faces stiff competition in Indian market

Amidst soaring expectations soaring over the release of Rebel Star Prabhas’s most-anticipated film Salaar on 22 December, fans are crying foul as the opening of American superhero film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has been pushed to 20 December.

The development has surprised box office pundits as well as industry insiders.

At a time when two big-ticket films — Salaar and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki — are hitting the screens worldwide during the Christmas week, the announcement of Aquaman’s release date came as a jolt to their makers.

Netizens feel that the box office collections of Salaar might take a severe dip because of two big films vying at the Indian box office.

Christmas being the holiday season across the globe, more than in India, Aquaman aims to tap the season’s increased footfall in theatres.

Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Dia Mirza, Boman Irani, Dharmendra, Satish Shah, Parikshit Sahni, and Vicky Kaushal, is set to release in theatres on 21 December.

This Rajkumar Hirani directorial is based on “donkey flight”, a route used by illegal migrants to enter other countries, especially the US and Canada.

Makers of Tillu Square wary

Makers of the upcoming film Tillu Square dropped a surprise on social media as they postponed the film’s release to next year.

Starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda in the lead, Tillu Square is one of the most awaited films after DJ Tillu rocked the theatres two years ago.

“His-Story will repeat once again in theatres with ‘Tillu Square’! Tillu Anna MASS is all set to blast the theatres with DOUBLE the FUN & DOUBLE ENTERTAINMENT from FEB 9th, 2024! (sic),” Sithara Entertainments announced on Twitter.

Tillu Square, the sequel to DJ Tillu (2022), was supposed to arrive in cinemas in August. However, for unknown reasons, the film was pushed to November.

But out of the blue, producer S Naga Vamsi has shocked everyone by stating that the film will be released on 9 February, 2024.

Pawan Kalyan flies to Italy

Pawan Kalyan and his wife Anna were snapped by Paparazzi on Saturday, 28 October, morning as they arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad.

It is learnt that the couple has jetted off to Italy to attend Varun Tej’s wedding with Lavanya Tripathi.

The destination wedding will be performed in Italy with only family and close friends from the industry on 1 November.

Earlier, it was speculated that the Jana Sena party founder might skip the destination wedding because of his busy schedule overseeing party activities amidst a high-pitched political battle in Andhra Pradesh.
