Actor Sai Pallavi has joined the Pushpa: The Rule cast. She is believed to play a key role in this Sukumar’s directorial venture.

Tamil hero Vijay Sethupathi also joined the crew recently. Since the Hindi dubbed version of Pushpa: The Rise (2021) alone collected ₹100 crore, speculations are rife that the makers are planning to rope in actors from Bollywood in the sequel.

Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil will reprise their roles in Pushpa: The Rule. The Stylish Star is likely to join the shooting in mid-October. The makers are expected to release his new look soon.

Meanwhile, Allu Arjun’s fans are going gaga over the actor’s new ads (of Astral Pipes and KFC) which he posted on his Instagram account a couple of days ago.

Fresh with the success of his Bollywood outing Chup, which is still holding its ground on Monday, Dulquer Salmaan has joined the team for his next release King of Kotha, the shooting of which is underway in Karaikudi (Tamil Nadu).

This heavy-duty period film will see the actor teaming up with Gokul Suresh (son of action hero Suresh Gopi). Yet another notable point is that the film is being directed by Abhilash Joshiy, son of New Delhi-fame director Joshiy.

Abhilash N Chandran is the story writer and Shaan Rahman is the music director. Dulquer Salmaan is producing it under his banner Wayfarer Films. Aishwarya Lekshmi is said to have been roped in as the female lead.

Dhanush-Selva distanced from Naane Varuvean promotions?

As the release dates of Ponniyin Selvan-1 and Naane Varuvean are coming closer, Kollywood is gearing up for an interesting fight at the box office. Dhanush’s Naanu Varenean is releasing on 29 September, a day ahead of Mani Ratnam’s PS-1.

The PS-1 collected close to ₹4.5 crore on day 1 through advance bookings, 80 per cent from Tamil Nadu itself. However, the Hindi version collected around ₹15 lakh.

Meanwhile, in view of the Dasara holidays, Naane Varuvean producer Kalaipuli S Thanu is confident that the flick would put up a good show at the box office.

With only one day to go for the release, when reporters enquired why Dhanush and director Selvaraghavan were staying away from the promotions, Thanu lost his cool and wondered if they would ask Ajith and Vijay the same question. “I have put up the posters and hoardings. Like all my previous films, there won’t be 5 AM shows,” he added.

This only made clear that Dhanush and Selvaraghvan are not keen to take on PS-1 which is being promoted by Red Giant Movies of Udhaynidhi Stalin. Even then, Naane Varuvean collected ₹1.20 crore from Tamil Nadu alone, through advance bookings on opening day. This is considered a big amount for a movie that hardly has any hype.

Meanwhile, few netizens are asking the exhibitors to ensure a two-week guaranteed run for the film, while some are asking for tax exemption. But now, heavy rain forecast for the next few days in Chennai is adding to the woes of the makers.
