TV actors Shabana and Reshma join Pagaiye Kathiru cast; Amala Paul joins Kalidas Jayram-Dushara’s film.

Popular Kannada actor Roshni Prakash is teaming up with ‘Yedhartha Nayagan’ Vidharth in a Tamil crime thriller. The film is already on the rolls. It is being directed by debutant Manimaran Natarajan.
Srinivasan Sundar is the story, screenplay and dialogue writer, while SR Sathish Kumar is the cinematographer. This is the maiden production venture of Mohan Rakesh Babu.
Roshni delivered a hit recently: Lucky Man. Directed by Nagendra Prasad, the movie struck a chord with Puneeth Rajkumar’s fans as the late actor appeared as God in this remake of the Tamil romantic fantasy Oh My Kaduvale.
The original featured Ashok Selvan, Rutika Singh, Vani Bhojan, Sha Ra and MS Bhaskar in key roles. A song sequence with Puneeth and Prabhu Deva was the highlight of Lucky Man. Roshni played Vani Bhojan’s role in the Kannada version.

Nagendra Prasad, the choreographer-actor brother of Prabhu Deva, won critical applause for effectively portraying Puneeth in Lucky Man. He also included a fight scene in the flick, though the original did not have one.
Roshni is paired opposite Prabhu Mundukur in Prakash Verma’s Kannada movie Murphy. Further, she completed a female-oriented Tamil film directed by Jagdeesan Subbu (Bakrid-fame). She recently appeared in the Aha web series 11th Hour (Telugu).
Meanwhile, Vidharth’s recent outing as a baddie in the web series Anabarivu won him huge applause.
Popular TV actors making a debut in films has been a trend. Priya Bhavani Sankar, who is a household name in Tamil Nadu, made a mark for herself in Kollywood.
Shabana of Chembaruthi and Reshma Pasupuleti of Poove Poo Chooda Vaa — the popular serials are being aired in Zee Tamil — are the latest to join the list. The duo joined the cast of Vikram Prabhu and Smriti Venkat’s Pagaiye Kathiru.
There has been no update on the film though it went on the floors in April last year. Manivel is the director. The movie also stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Vidya Pradeep, Sai Kumar and Siva Shara in key roles.
Shabana and Reshma are good friends off-screen. Reshma recently married her co-actor Madhan Pandian. The couple acted in the TV series Abhi Tailors, which recently completed its run in Colors Tamil.
Meanwhile, Vikram Prabhu’s next Ponniyin Selvan-1 is hitting the screens on 30 September. He’ll be seen in the role of Parthibendra Pallava in this Mani Ratnam’s period drama.

Amala Paul has joined Kalidas Jayram and Dushara Vijayan’s upcoming flick which is helmed by Balaji Mohan. The actor is returning to the big screen after a long break. Her last outing Cadaver was released on an OTT platform and Adho Andha Paravai Pola is yet to be released.
In Malayalam, she signed Christopher opposite Mammooty and The Teacher by director Vivek. She recently made headlines when she alleged that the Telugu film industry is in the hands of a family and one cannot survive without its support.
On the personal front, Amala Paul is battling a court case with a person who claims that he legally married her.
