Cinema Snippets: Raj B Shetty to make Malayalam debut with ‘Rudhiram’

Shetty will be paring up with National Award winner Aparna Balamurali in the film directed by Jisho Lone Antony.

Rudhiram, the debut Malayalam movie of Kannada actor Raj B Shetty, started shooting recently near Thrissur Chimney Dam in Kerala. He will be paired opposite National Award winner Aparna Balamurali.

The multilingual movie directed by Jisho Lone Antony will be released in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam languages.

Rudhiram is produced by VS Lalan under the banner of Rising Sun Studios. Director Jisho Lone Antony and Joseph Kiran George are the scriptwriters.

Mithun Mukundan, who gave a fresh musical experience with Rorschach, is composing the background music. Sajad Kaku is handling the cinematography. Bhavan Sreekumar is the editor.

First look of Sulaikha Manzil released

The makers of Sulaikha Manzil released the first-look poster online. The movie, featuring Lukman Avaran, Anarkali Marikar, and Chemban Vinod in key roles, will be released for Eid.

It is directed by Ashraf Hamza and produced by Chembosky Motion Pictures.

Lukman Avaran is an upcoming actor whose roles in Thallumala and Unda have been well-appreciated. Anarkali Marikar got recognition for her roles in Mandaram and Priyan Ottathil Aanu.

Director Ashraf Hamza is well-known for Bheemante Vazhi and Thamasha, both socially-relevant flicks.

Joju George on digital detox?

Joju George has proved himself as an actor with his roles in films like Joseph, Nayattu, Solamante Thenichakal, and Iratta.

The actor recently got mired in a controversy when he revolted against a political event taken up by the young wing of a political party. This affected the traffic on a busy road in Kerala.

Soon, there was a huge hue and cry on the issue on social media and Joju George went on a digital detox. He became active on social media recently.

But, in a recent Instagram post, the actor said that he is fed up with the comments being posted on his feed and announced to take a break from social media again as he can’t live with the negative energy.

The actor also stated that he will return after some time. “I have to complete my work and focus more on my career,” Joju George’s post read. But the actor deleted the post for some reason.

During Iratta promotions, he remarked that social media reviews affected the film’s collections and the statement received negative comments on social media.

Thunivu sets record on Netflix

Tamil actor Ajith returned to Chennai and his fans are celebrating the record set on Netflix by his latest release: Thunivu.

As per the figures released by the OTT platform, the movie bagged the third and fourth position in terms of viewership of non-English films. During 6-12 February, it got 40.5 lakh views for the Tamil version and 37.3 lakh views for the Hindi version.

Ajith’s fans claimed that no Indian film held two top slots in listings on Netflix till now.

Meanwhile, fans are hoping that Lyca Productions would officially announce Magizh Thirumeni’s directorial with Ajith where Santosh Narayanan is composing the music.

Gautham Karthik wraps up Criminal

Gautham Karthik recently wrapped up the Madurai schedule of his upcoming film Criminal. In the movie, Sarathkumar plays a police officer and Gautham Karthik plays an accused in a murder case.

The film is directed and written by debutant Dhakshina Moorthy Ramar. It is produced jointly by PR Meenakshi Sundaram and IB Karthikeyan under Parsa Pictures and Big Print Pictures.

Prasanna S Kumar is the cinematographer and Sam CS is the music composer.

Gautham Karthik is also doing the Silambarasan-starrer Pathu Thala which is scheduled for release on 30 March.
