As Jyothika appears all set to return to Malayalam cinema, Anupama Parameswaran joins cast of Tamil film 'Siren'.
Friday sees the Bollywood box office clash of two Tamil directors.
Mani Rathnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: 1, which trade is calling PS: 1, is pitted against the Pushkar-Gaythri duo’s Vikarm Vedha.
While for Hindi movie-goers, Mani Ratnam and Aishwarya Rai are the attractions in PS: 1 — which some expect to be a mega hit on the scale of Baahubali — Vikram Vedha is a remake of a Tamil film by the director-duo and has a top-notch star cast in Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan.
At a promo, when asked about PS: 1, Pushkar said that the book on which it is based is unbeatable in terms of intrigue. He added that the book, by Kalki, was an inspiration for every writer in Chennai. He said that he surely would watch PS: 1.
Hrithik Roshan, on the other hand, said at the event that he had not read the Kalki book and hence had no idea of PS: 1. He said all he knew was about Vikram Vedha!
Jyothika is said to be readying to make a comeback to Malayalam cinema in a film opposite Mammooty, who is also its producer.
Jeo Baby, the director of the cult film The Great Indian Kitchen, is said to have narratted the story to Jyothika and got her nod. We learn that dates are now being worked out.
After Seetha Kalyanam directed by TK Rajeev Kumar in 2008, Jyothika had not done any Malayalam film.
She is currently busy looking after the production work of 2D Entertainment of her actor-hubby Suriya and works mostly out of Mumbai.
Mammootty Company, the Kerala superstar’s own banner, has finished two films. One with Director Lijo Palliserry, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam (Tamil-Malyalam), and the other being Nisam Basheer’s Rorschach. Both are awaiting release.
Anupama Parameswaran, whose Malayalam film Premam was a hit in Tamil Nadu, is a saleable actress in Tollywood.
Now she joins Jayam Ravi and Keerthy Suresh (who plays a cop) for Siren. An emotional action drama, Siren is directed by debutant Anthony Bhagyaraj, who has earlier assisted directors of films like Viswasam, Irumbuthirai, and Hero.
Jayam Ravi has Ponniyin Selvan: 1, Agilan, and an untitled film with Ahmed coming up. Keerthy Suresh, on the other hand, has Maamannan in Tamil, and Dasara and Bhola Shankar in Telugu lined up.
