Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan has won the Petrolhead Actor of the Year award. He received the award at the BBC Top Gear India Awards 2023 for his outstanding performance in the Hindi film Chup.
Dulquer Salmaan recently won the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award for best actor in a negative role category for his performance in Chup.
A psychological thriller movie, Chup is written and directed by filmmaker R Balki. It was the third Bollywood outing of Dulquer.
Dulquer’s next release will be the big-budget Malayalam movie — King of Kotha, which is bankrolled by Wayfarer Films and Zee Studios. The film is helmed by debutant Abhilash Joshiy.

Tovino Thomas has an interesting lineup of releases in the coming days.
While his latest release Thallumala was a blockbuster at the box office, Neelavelicham and Ajayante Randam Moshanam are expected to hit the theatres soon.
He recently finished shooting for his upcoming flick Ajayante Randam Moshanam.
Talking about the project on his social media account, Tovino said working for the movie was a larger-than-life experience for him and he felt that his transformation for the movie was for the better.
The actor learned wrestling for Godha. For his role in Ajayante Randam Moshanam, he learned Kalaripayattu and horse riding.
Tovino plays a triple role in the movie, for the first time in his career. He also wrote about Kasaragod, its people, and how they treated him during the shooting.
Ajayante Randam Moshanam is a Malayalam-period movie directed by debutant Jithin Lal. The film features Krithi Shetty, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Basil Joseph in lead roles. Tovino worked for 110 days in the movie.
Mammootty and his new films became the talk of the town after his successful collaboration with new directors.
The thespian, who has been acting for four decades, does more than two films a year. His recent films —Nanpakal Nerath Mayakkam and Rorschach — were accepted well by the audience and critics. Mammootty is now filming for Kannur Squad.
A new picture of Mammootty along with director Vysakh and Anjaam Paathira director Mithun Manuel Thomas is creating a buzz in social media.
Vysakh earlier made successful commercial films Pokkiriraja and Madhura Raja with Mammootty.
Midhun Manuel Thomas is popular for his Aadu and its sequel Aadu 2. His Anjaam Pathira was a super hit which was a psycho thriller.
After the photo appeared on social media, movie buffs are discussing if the movie would be directed by Vysakh and whether the script would be written by Midhun Manuel Thomas. An official confirmation is expected soon.
Vysakh’s latest movie was Monster, starring Mohanlal, which didn’t do well. Meanwhile, Midhun Manuel Thomas is reportedly working for Aaram Pathira, a sequel to Anjaam Pathira.

The recent Malayalam hit film, Romancham, completed 30 days of screening in theatres.
At a time when movies are trying hard to run for at least two weeks in theatres, the movie entered the ₹50-crore club. The comedy-horror gained an audience through word-of-mouth opinion.
Set in Bengaluru, Romancham is about real-life incidents that happened among a group of friends.
Romancham has a bunch of new actors and most of their performances were appreciated. It also has good VFX works — the rats and an abandoned house of the ghost in the movie are some examples.
On Sunday, 5 March, the makers released a VFX breakdown video giving an insight into the technical aspects of the movie. Egg White VFX has done the VFX works of the movie.
The movie, directed by Jithu Anand, has amazing music by Sushin Syam. The makers are currently discussing the remake rights of the film.
