Director Chimbu Deven has made a mark for himself in the Tamil industry with the blockbuster hit Imsai Arasan 23-am Pulikesi, starring Vadivelu. It was produced by director Shankar.

The filmmaker is now coming up with a Tamil film titled Boat featuring Yogi Babu and Gouri G Kishan in the lead.

Made on a grand budget by Prabha Premkumar on behalf of Maali and Manvi Movie Makers, Boat is expected to hit the screens in February next year.

Produced by Prabha Premkumar on Maali & Manvi Movie Makers banner, Boat has been shot completely at sea.

Interestingly, the movie will be released in five languages — Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

Sources disclose that Boat is set in the backdrop of the 1940s when Japan bombed Chennai during World War II.

Says a source, “Around 10 people escape into the sea on a small boat, fearing for their lives. Unexpectedly, the boat develops a hole and begins to sink slowly. To add to the problems of those on it, a big shark surrounds the boat. How the people on the boat escape forms the crux of the story.”

Boat is touted to be a political comedy and likely to be high on action and thrills as well.

Madhesh Manickam has handled the cinematography. The music is composed by Ghibran.

The editing is by Dinesh and the production design is by T Santhanam.
