This December and in January 2023, Kollywood and Sandalwood would witness a major box office clash.
All the major theatres in Tamil Nadu are announcing that they have signed a deal with the distributors of Ajith’s Thunivu.
Music director Ghibran, who scored the soundtrack for Thunivu, revealed that the single from the film “Chilla Chilla” is sung by Anirudh to Vaisagh lyrics.
Ghibran who attended an audio launch of the Sasikumar film kept mum to all queries about the date of the song’s release. There are reports that the film has only three songs.
Madhuram Cinemas revealed that they made a deal with Red Giant Movies, the distributors of Thunivu.
Meanwhile, the Tamil version of Vijay’s Varisu is releasing on 12 January. However, there are no updates about the release date of the Telugu version (Varasudu) yet.
When contacted, Tirupur Subramanian, head of Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners’ Association said that Ajith and Vijay’s films would get an equal number of screenings in the movie halls.

Rumours are agog that Lokesh would bring Master film’s characters in Thalapathy 67 just like the way Kaithi’s reference was made in Vikram.
Since Wednesday, 16 November, unconfirmed reports are doing the rounds that Gold starring Prithviraj and Nayanthara will be released in theatres on 2 December.
The censorship is planned on 28 November and the theatre bookings have started in Kerala.
It was earlier announced that Shaji Kailas’ directorial with Mohanlal, Alone will release on the same date. Interestingly, Prithviraj gave a voice-over in Alone.
His Kaapa, directed by Shaji Kailas, is likely to release on 22 December. Prithviraj plays a gangster Kotta Madhu in the movie.
According to trade sources, the release date of Avatar 2 — on 22 December — seems to have forced many Indian producers to release their projects much earlier so they could get a theatrical run of two weeks.

In the case of Gold, the film is produced by Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames. The theatrical rights outside Kerala are with Nayanthara’s Rowdy Pictures, as part of a deal signed with regard to her payment for acting in the film.
The movie, directed by Premam-fame Alphonse Puthren, was to be released for Onam. However, it was not released as planned since Prithiviraj and Nayanthara were not happy with the outcome.
For one, the runtime was three hours and the flick was not riveting enough to sustain it. A crisp edit could have done the trick, but Alphonse felt that a few portions should be scrapped and a few scenes are reshot.
With both the actors agreeing to this, the revised version of Gold is getting ready now. Well, let’s wait and watch as to who would turn victorious in this box office clash!
