Pallavi Prashanth arrested

After being on a run for over three days, Bigg Boss Telugu Season 7 winner Pallavi Prashanth and his brother Mahaveer were arrested in the early hours of Thursday, 21 December from Kolgur village of Gajwel town in Siddipet district, the police said.

After the late-night questioning by the police, the siblings were produced in front of a sub-divisional magistrate. They have been sent to 14-day judicial custody and are currently lodged in Chanchalguda prison in Hyderabad.

The police said the duo were booked for the ruckus created outside the Annapurna Studio that led to unlawful assembly, rioting, mischief and damage to public property after the show’s finale in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills on 17 December night.

The Jubilee Hills have arrested four people in the case so far and are searching for another absconding accused, Vinodh in the case. The cops are also interrogating over a dozen of the accused allegedly involved in the ruckus.

The ruckus

On Sunday night, Pallavi Prashanth was declared the winner of the Bigg Boss Telugu Season 7 by the show host and Tollywood actor Akkineni Nagarjuna Rao. Apart from securing the winner’s trophy, he also took home a cash prize worth ₹35 lakh.

After the show concluded, celebrations broke out as hundreds of Pallavi Prashanth’s supporters reportedly gathered outside the Studio.

However, the celebration soon started turning into vandalism as some people from the crowd started damaging the RTC buses by pelting stones. They also vandalised a few police and private vehicles. Amidst the ruckus, the vehicle of Anudeep, one of the contestants, was also damaged by people from the crowd.

Reports suggested that a clash between the supporters of Pallavi Prashanth and Amardeep led to public nuisance and hooliganism.

It has also been reported that Prashanth took out a rally from the studio despite the cops cautioning him against the move.

“Pallavi Prashanth and others defied the orders of public servants. The policemen deployed at the spot had urged him and his followers to not create a nuisance but they did not pay heed. Even after they were sent back, they returned and disturbed the law and order,” Vijay Kumar, DCP West Zone, told South First.

The cops then resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd as reinforcements were rushed to the spot.

Two cases under the IPC Sections 147 and 148(rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 427 (mischief causing loss or damage to the amount of fifty rupees or upwards) and Section 3 of the PDPP (Prevention of Public Damage to Property) Act has been registered against the accused by the Jubilee Hills police.
