Manju Warrier had a good start this year with Thunivu where she shared the screen space with Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar. Her performance in the Pongal release, especially the stunt sequences, received accolades from the audience.

The actor was earlier seen in Asuran (Tamil) along with Dhanush. The movie and her performance garnered positive responses.

Meanwhile, the actor is eagerly looking forward to the release of her much-anticipated Malayalam-Arabic bilingual movie Ayisha. The cross-cultural family entertainer is hitting the big screens on 20 January.

It is directed by debutant Aamir Pallikkal and produced by Sudani From Nigeria-fame Zakaria. M Jayachandran is the music director. Actor-director-dancer Prabhu Deva is the choreographer.

Ahead of the release of Ayisha, Manju Warrier interacted with the media on Monday, 16 January.

The film is about the relationship among maids, which the actor said is an interesting aspect. She also claimed that the story is unique.

“I liked the plot. It’s not what you usually find in most female-oriented films, which I’m often approached with.”

Ayisha also marks many firsts in Manju Warrier’s career. It has been shot extensively in the Middle East and showcases the Arab culture which forms the part and parcel of the plot. “All this is an experience for me. I am also impressed with the crew,” she added.

Basking in Thunivu’s success

About the dance moves, the Thunivu-actor said that she learned the steps during the interval and lunch sessions while the shooting was going on.

“Prabhu Deva sent his dance team to help me with the choreography. I enjoyed the process.”

The songs of Ayisha are already on the hit charts and the dance sequences have been well received.

Manju Warrier is popular as the “lady superstar of the Malayalam film industry”, thanks to her roles in How Old Are You, Rani Padmini, Lucifer, Odiyan, Aami, and Udaharanam Sujatha, to mention a few.

While she enjoys a huge fan following, the actor also faced trolling after the release of Jack N Jill. “Well, it was their (trolls’) choice and it is not new to me,” she quipped.

About working for Thunivu, Manju Warrier said that she enjoyed the shooting and it was a great learning experience.

“The makers trusted that I’m capable of doing the role. I’m glad that my character (Kanmani) received a good response from the audience and industry insiders alike,” she signed off.
