Ashok Selvan weds Keerthi Pandian

Tamil actor Ashok Selvan, whose last film Por Thozhil (2023) emerged as a superhit, married Tamil actress Keerthi Pandian in a traditional Tamil-style wedding in Tirunelveli on Wednesday, 13 September.

Keerthi Pandian is also the daughter of well-known actor-producer Arun Pandian.

The green wedding was an intimate event, with only close friends and family members of the couple being present.

Sources close to the actor said that the wedding happened at a farm — Sethu Ammal farm — in Itteri in Tirunelveli.

As the couple are environment-conscious, they chose to have a green wedding — which meant that no plastic was used in the wedding.

Actress Ramya Pandian, best known for her role in the National Award-winning film Joker (2016), was among those who attended the wedding of the couple.

Posting pictures of herself with the newlywed couple on Instagram, Ramya wrote: “Happy married life my dear Kanmani @keerthipandian and welcome to our family our dearest Maapilai @ashokselvan.”

Keerthi quotes an ancient Tamil text

Keerthi Pandian also posted pictures of her wedding on Instagram.

Interestingly, she posted the pictures, quoting a couple of lines in Tamil from Kurunthogai, one of the ancient Tamil texts.

The lines in Tamil read: “Sempula Peyal Neer Pola, Anbudai Nenjam Thaan Kalanthanave.

The lines seem to have been taken from the 40th song in Kurunthogai.

They speak about a situation when a maiden meets a young man and falls in love. Caste and religion don’t matter to both. However, the maiden is worried that life will separate them at some later point.

The man, who senses what is going on in the woman’s mind, uses these lines to set her mind at rest. Showing her how rainwater mingles with earth in an inseparable fashion, he draws a simile to their love and says that they too will be inseparable.
