Actor-music director Vijay Antony has announced that he is to file a defamation suit against a YouTuber who, in a video recently, made serious allegations against a host of people including him.

In her video, the YouTuber alleged that a few people connived to sabotage the “Marakuma Nenjam” concert of AR Rahman. She also alleged that Vijay Antony sent a voice message to a journalist urging the latter not to let AR Rahman off the hook easily as he had only now “got locked” properly.

In a statement, Vijay Antony said that with a little pain in his heart, he was seeking to put an end to some controversies through his statement.

“A sister, through a YouTube channel, has put out a lie concerning me and my brother AR Rahman. Whatever she has said is a lie,” Vijay Antony said in the brief statement in Tamil.

He went on to add, “I am to initiate defamation proceedings against the YouTube channel that has put out this video. Whatever money I get as a result of this defamation suit, I intend to give it in its entirety to the struggling members of the music industry.”

Music director Rahman’s “Marakuma Nenjam” concert was held at the Adityaram Palace City in Chennai’s ECR on 10 September. The event was poorly organised, resulting in several people having to turn back home without attending the concert despite having bought tickets worth several thousand.

Fans, who attended the concert, alleged that the place was overcrowded since the organisers sold more tickets than they should ideally have.

Several fans complained that they suffered panic attacks and suffocation because of the huge crowds; some women alleged that they were molested at the venue.

The organisers (ACTC Events) and music director Rahman came in for sharp criticism from both fans and the public for the discomfort caused both to audiences at the venue and the public who were put to hardship because of the traffic jams that were caused around the venue.

The sharp criticism resulted in Hemanth, the founder and CEO of ACTC, the firm that organised the music concert, tendering an unconditional apology to all those who faced discomfort at the concert and taking complete responsibility for the poor manner in which the concert was organised.
