Months after actor Aniruddha Jatkar was banned from Kannada television following complaints of behavioural and professional issues while working on the sets of the Jothe Jotheyali teleserial, the matter has been resolved amicably.

A decision to revoke the ban was taken at a meeting held on Saturday, 10 December.

Aniruddha Jatkar, the son-in-law of legendary Kannada actor, the late Dr Vishnuvardhan, spoke exclusively to South First following the meeting held by the Karnataka Television Association and its producers’ association.

“There was a meeting scheduled wherein the Kannada Television Association and its producers were called to discuss the issue. After some deliberation, it was amicably decided to brush any indifferences aside and move on.”

“I always maintained a cordial relationship and hence I apologised to the fans to whom I owe all my success,” said Aniruddha.

The actor said that he was quite emotional at the meeting as the Jothe Jotheyali teleserial had given him all his success, creating a milestone for him and also the Kannada television industry, setting new viewership records.

“The fans of Jothe Jotheyali did not deserve all this, and I sincerely apologise to them. I even wished Aroor Jagadeesh the very best, who is soon starting a new venture,” he added.

With the ban against him revoked, the hurdles his next project — Suryavamsha, directed by renowned filmmaker S Narayan — was facing have been cleared.

When asked about his return to the Jothe Jotheyaki serial, Aniruddha said, “I have been saying that I am more than willing to join the team. I reiterated that even today, after the decision to ban me was revoked.”

“However, it is up to them. But I am ever ready to join them. I wanted to end it on a high note and if I had continued with no issues, the serial would have ended by now. There are hardly a few episodes left.”

Turn of events

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), the premier film body of the Kannada film industry, strongly backed actor Aniruddha Jatkar, saying that no one can ban or stop him from working as an artist for any television projects.

The actor had maintained that the makers of the teleserial made baseless allegations and that the decision to ban him was carried out unilaterally without hearing his side of the story.

However, the decision to ban came back to haunt the actor after S Narayan announced Suryavamsha, with Aniruddha Jatkar playing the lead.

The actor had himself shared the news.

“I am extremely happy to share the good news that I am playing the hero in the upcoming serial Suryavamsha written and directed by Kalasamrat S Narayan sir. It will be telecast on Udaya TV soon. This is the result of your blessings and wishes. I am sure you will shower your love and continue to support me.”

Even as the news of Aniruddha making a comeback made headlines, the Karnataka Television Producers’ Association expressed its displeasure with the revoking of the ban on the actor. They reportedly requested director S Narayan not to cast Anirudh in his project.

With reports of a possible dropout from Suryavamsha making the rounds, Aniruddha knocked on the doors of the KFCC, which called a meeting of the TV association along with the actor on Saturday, to amicably resolve the matter.

However, when the TV Film Producers’ Association kept away from the meeting, the film body took the firm decision to back the actor, saying that no one can stop him from acting in television projects.

“I believe in the concept of Vasudeva Kutumba, which is to believe in the universe as one family. Though I thought of taking up legal action after the decision to ban me, I wanted the matter to be resolved amicably like in the case of any family issue.”

“I am happy that the issue has been finally resolved just the way I intended it to be. I wish everyone the best including, Aroor Jagdeesh,” Aniruddha added.
