Malla Reddy speech at Animal event north indian audience

Minister Malla Reddy’s remarks at the pre-release event of Animal on Monday evening, 27 November, caused quite a stir among the crowd and Bollywood circles.

The minister predicted that everyone would flock to Hyderabad and Tollywood’s stature would soar in the next five years as Mumbai would lose its charm and Bengaluru’s traffic woes would worsen. He also advised Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor to buy a house in Hyderabad.

Well, he didn’t stop there! He claimed that Telangana was excelling on all fronts because of the ‘Ashwamedha Yagna‘ performed in the state recently.

For a moment, audiences felt that the politician got carried away by the heat of election fever prevailing in Telangana.

Might hurt North Indian audience!

Meanwhile, reactions started pouring on social media after Malla Reddy’s speech went viral.

Netizens felt that the audience in North India might feel somewhat neglected in the context of Hindi cinema and the minister’s speech might not go down well with them.

Tollywood has, indeed, progressed significantly, especially post-Baahubali. RRR earned recognition at the Oscars and movies like ‘KGF’ found audiences in cities like Mumbai. However, not every South Indian film received such widespread attention.

Regardless of the efforts made by Telugu stars with pan-India banners, it appears that the North Indian audience may not be inclined to visit theatres to watch South Indian films unless they are offered something remarkable, the netizens pointed out.

As regards Minister Malla Reddy’s speech, it appeared that he delivered it without much thought and preparation. Indeed, it didn’t impress anyone.

Malla Reddy’s statement about entering politics after watching Mahesh Babu’s Businessman (2012) appeared far-fetched. However, it impressed Mahesh’s fans.

This short video has been widely shared since Monday night, and it’s believed to boost the Superstar’s influence in these circles.
