Ajith rules out promoting Thunivu; Vijay-starrer Varisu up for large-scale promotions

The much-awaited movies of the two superstars will clash at the box office in Kollywood for Pongal 2023.

Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar will not be part of any promotional activities for his forthcoming flick Thunivu.

The actor, renowned for his “no-promotion” rule, shunned the ongoing rumours that he’d promote Thunivu in the wake of the fact that his latest release Valimai did not do well at the box office.

Ajith’s manager Suresh Chandra took to Twitter to clarify that the actor will not promote Thunivu, directed by H Vinoth and produced jointly by Bony Kapoor and Zee Studios.

The bank heist thriller is gearing up for a grand release for Pongal 2023. Netflix acquired its OTT rights and Kalaignar TV bought the telecast rights.

Stunt choreographer Supreme Sundar’s action sequences are believed to be the main attraction in this flick.

Right now, Thunivu’s dubbing works are underway. Female lead Manju Warrier, and actors Prem Kumar and Amir ADS tweeted about the ongoing dubbing works.

Meanwhile, the photos of Ajith’s bike rides in Pune are going viral on the internet.

Vijay Thalapathy’s Varisu on 11 January

On the other hand, the makers of Vijay Thalapathy’s Varisu planned to release a single on 4 or 5 November. The audio and teaser release function will be held on 10 December. The film is scheduled for release on 11 January.

Renowned Telugu director Vamshi Paidipally is helming Varisu. Dil Raju and Sirish are producing it under the Sri Venkateswara Creations banner.

Thaman is the music director. Mumbai-based T Series acquired its audio rights.

Interestingly, no audio release function was organised for Vijay’s Beast.

Thunivu and Varisu are all set to clash at the box office for Pongal 2023.

Udhaynidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies recently joined the Varisu distribution bandwagon. Incidentally, it is the sole distributor of Ajith’s Thunivu. Lalith and Red Giant Movies jointly bought the Tamil Naidu rights of Varisu for ₹75 crore.

Meanwhile, a little birdie in Ajith’s camp revealed that Vignesh Shivan will start working on his next movie film the superstar in June 2023 and release it for Diwali.

Till then, Ajith planned a series of bike expeditions with the international bike riders’ groups.

However, Vijay is likely to celebrate Christmas and New year with his family abroad. He would leave soon after the audio function of Varisu and return before the theatrical release.

Even as Varisu is gearing up for promotions, Lokesh Kanakaraj, who is directing #Thalapathy67, met actor Vishal for the antagonist’s role.

Sources say that the film will kick off shooting in Munnar without a pooja ceremony. A huge set is being erected at a hill resort for the purpose.
