Oscar winner MM Keeravani is the latest addition to the list of music directors who used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create music.
At the audio launch of the forthcoming Telugu film Love Me-If You Dare, producer Dil Raju revealed that Keeravani used AI to create the entire “Ghost Love” song using AI. Thus, he made history as the first Telugu music composer to use AI for a whole song.
Hemachandra and Ashrita Datta sang the “Ghost Love” song.
Love Me-If You Dare casts Ashish Reddy and Vaishnavi Chaitanya in the lead roles. Arun Bhimavarapu is the director. Harshith Reddy, Hanshitha Reddy, and Naga Mallidi are the producers.
PC Sreeram is the cinematographer. The film is slated for release on 25 April.
This is not the first time a music director used AI to create a soundtrack.
Hesham Abdul Wahab achieved this milestone for a song in Nani-Mrunal Thakur’s blockbuster hit Hi Nanna (2023).
Similarly, Academy Award winner AR Rahman recreated the voices of the late singers Bamba Bakya and Shahul Hameed for Rajinikanth’s Lal Salaam (2023). However, it did not go down well with all.
Music composer Vivek Sagar attracted a lawsuit for using AI to recreate the voice of the legendary playback singer late SP Balasubrahmanyam in the Telugu flick Keedaa Cola (2023) without seeking permission from the family.
Singer-actor SP Charan, the son of SP Balasubramanyam, issued a legal notice to Keedaa Cola director Tharun Bhascker and sought an apology from him. He also demanded ₹1 crore towards damages and a share in the royalty.
Well, at this rate, AI will soon rule the film industry!
