Director Teja plans 'Chitram' sequel

When it comes to mentioning a small film that made a massive success, it is undoubtedly Teja’s directorial Chitram.

Starring late actor Uday Kiran and Reema Sen in the lead, Chitram collected good money for the makers in 2000. It was made with a budget of ₹42 lakh.

Now, nearly 24 years later, a sequel to the movie is being discussed.

As per the latest update, the Chitram sequel will have a new hero with a storyline that will meet the current trends.

It is reported that the decision regarding the lead actor has already been made. However, which production house will bankroll the project remains a point of interest.

While Usha Kiran Movies, led by veteran newsman Ramoji Rao, is not active in film production anymore, the grapevine has it that senior director Teja might collaborate with ETV Win to bankroll the sequel.

Previously, there were reports that RP Patnaik, who scored music for Uday Kiran-starrer, might collaborate with Teja again.

However, it is uncertain whether he will continue with the same project.

It is still unclear if the Chitram sequel will follow the original storyline or will have a completely new narrative.

On the other hand, director Teja has already announced that he is doing a movie Rakshasa Raja with Rana Daggubati. He also mentioned that the film is in progress.

Teja and Rana’s previous venture, Nene Raju Nene Mantri (2017), was a blockbuster hit at the box office. It was dubbed in Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi, too.

Well, it is surprising to learn why the sequel to  Chitram came to the fore now!
