Kalki Vs Kalki 2898 AD confusion in advance bookings

Even as the advance bookings for Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD were opened in Hyderabad on Monday, 24 June, most of the theatres in the city became houseful in a jiffy.

However, confusion prevailed when a goof-up led to Prabhas’s fans booking tickets for senior actor Rajashekar’s 2019 film Kalki instead of the upcoming movie.

The Bramarambha Theatre in Kukatpally saw houseful bookings for all six shows of Kalki on the BookMyShow app. The users were in for a shock when they got a confirmation from the app that they had booked tickets for the Rajashekar film instead of Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD.

Similarly, shows in other theatres/multiplexes (like AMB Cinemas), too, became houseful because of the goof-up in the app. In all, around 20 shows were sold out for Rajashekar’s Kalki.

Following this, fans and users immediately brought the issue to the notice of the ticket-selling platform and also took to social media platforms.

Responding to the goof-up, the BookMyshow authorities clarified that it was indeed a technical error (since both films have the same title) and assured the users that their ticket bookings would be confirmed for Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD and not Rajashekar’s Kalki.

As the issue went viral on social media, a few netizens wondered if it was a sales tactic by the makers of Kalki and some wondered if it was a publicity stunt by team Kalki 2898A AD.

However, actor Rajashekar quickly posted a tweet, on a lighter note, clarifying that he had nothing to do with this goof-up. He also extended his heartfelt wishes to team Kalki 2898 AD and hoped that it would create history in the industry.
