Actor Saif Ali Khan stabbed by unknown person at his Mumbai residence; hospitalised

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has been hospitalised, after sustaining stab wounds from an unknown attacker at his Mumbai residence on the intervening night of Wednesday, and Thursday, 15 and 16 January.

According to the reports, the attack was part of a burglary attempt. The attacker intruded on the actor’s Bandra house, and the duo broke into a scuffle when the latter tried to stop the intruder.

Amidst the scuffle, the intruder stabbed Saif Ali Khan multiple times, with a sharp object and fled the crime scene. The actor has been admitted to the Leelavati Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The news agency IANS reported that the actor had undergone surgery for two hours, and is currently recovering.

Further, Doctor Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, confirmed that actor Saif Ali Khan was admitted at 3:30 AM. He sustained six stab wounds, two of which were deep, including one near his spine.

According to an NDTV report, the police have started the investigation and an FIR against an intruder has been lodged at the Bandra Police Station.

“An unidentified individual broke into the residence of actor Saif Ali Khan. A confrontation occurred between the actor and the intruder, resulting in the actor sustaining injuries. He is receiving medical treatment, and an investigation is ongoing,” said Dixit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police, while addressing the media.

The actor’s team also released a statement: “There was an attempted burglary at Mr. Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently undergoing surgery in the hospital. We kindly request the media and fans to be patient, as this is a police matter. We will provide updates as the situation progresses.”
