Actor Ajith’s father PS Mani passes away; Tamil Nadu CM Stalin offers condolences

Ajith's father PS Mani passed away in his sleep in the early hours of Friday morning, after a prolonged illness.

PS Mani, the father of well known Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, passed away early morning on Friday, 24 March. He was 85.

Ajith Kumar, in a joint statement issued along with his brothers Anil Kumar and Anup Kumar, said: “Our father, PS Mani, passed away in the early hours of this morning, in his sleep, after a long illness.”

“We are grateful for the care and support provided to him and our family by a number of medical professionals, especially following his debilitating stroke of four years ago.

“We are comforted, at this time of grief, that he lived a good life and knew the undying love of our mother, his partner of nearly six decades.”

Stating that they appreciated the kind, comforting messages and condolences that have been coming in, the actor and his brothers asked for a little understanding from people, stating that they may not be able to take calls or respond to messages in a timely manner.

The last rites of Ajith’s dad will be a family affair.

Several celebrities, cutting across film industries and regions, have been extending their condolences to Ajith and his family.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin too extended his condolences to the star.

In a statement, Stalin said he was grieved to hear the news of the demise of actor Ajith’s father Mr Subramaniam and extended his condolences to the actor and his family members.
