Actor KR Gokul, who played Hakeem in director Blessy’s latest outing Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life), has signed his next Malayalam movie — Mlecchan.

The film features the actor in the lead role. It is written and directed by Vinod Raman.

On Wednesday, 17 April, the makers unveiled the first-look poster of the movie with the taglines “The Outcast”, “The Rebel”, and “The Deliverer”.

Gokul underwent a massive physical transformation for Mlecchan. He shed 20 kilos for the flick. He said he is inspired by Christian Bale’s transformation for the 2004 film The Machinist.

The actor revealed this on his social media handle.

Crew of Mlecchan

Mlecchan is produced by Vinod Raman Nair, Bhavesh Patel, Ashlesha Rao, Abhinay Bahurupi, and Praful Helode.

Pradeep Nair is the cinematographer. Sunil S Pillai is the editor.

Abhinay Bahurupi, one of the producers, is composing the music for the venture.

Gokul won the hearts of audiences and critics with his heart-warming performance as Najeeb’s (played by Prithviraj Sukumaran) innocent friend in Aadujeevitham.

Interestingly, the actor also lost weight to play Hakeem in the Prithviraj-starrer.

In a video released by the makers of Aadujeevitham recently, the budding actor disclosed that he weighed 64 kilos earlier and reduced to 44 kilos to fit in the role. “It was a painful process. But I had to do it so I could do at least 10 percent justice to the character of Hakeem.”

Gokul said it was a dream come true for him to be part of the flick (Aadujeevitham).
