The survival drama based on the 2018 Kerala floods is the first Malayalam film to cross the ₹200-crore mark at the domestic box office.
Jude Anthany Joseph, the director of the megahit Malayalam movie 2018 (2023), will join hands with Lyca Productions for his next.
The collaboration was announced by the production house on its official Twitter page today, 5 July. The untitled movie will be produced by A Subaskaran, the founder of Lyca Productions.
Jude Anthany Joseph is on cloud nine after the tremendous success of 2018. The critically-acclaimed survival drama is the first Malayalam film to cross the ₹200-crore mark at the domestic box office, according to its producers.
Released in May this year, the movie is based on the devastating Kerala floods that occurred in 2018.
2018 features Tovino Thomas, Indrans, Kunchacko Boban, Aparna Balamurali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Asif Ali, Lal, Narain, Tanvi Ram, Sshivada, Kalaiyarasan, Aju Varghese, Siddique, Joy Mathew, and Sudheesh in major roles.

Lyca Productions bankrolled several big-budget Tamil films like 2.0 (2018), Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022), and Ponniyin Selvan 2 (2023). It also produced the Bollywood film Ram Sethu (2022).
Further, the banner is now producing the highly-anticipated movie Indian 2, a sequel to the 1996 Tamil movie Indian starring Kamal Haasan in dual roles.
It’s other major ventures are Lal Salam and Aranmanai 4.
