The third edition of Dakshin Dialogues, the annual flagship thought conclave of South First, is being hosted in Hyderabad on Saturday, 5 October from 10 AM. You can watch the event LIVE here.

The much-anticipated Dakshin Dialogues 2024 – a platform for intellectual discourse in South India that brings together top state and national politicians, ministers, and legal luminaries on the same stage is being held at Taj Krishna in Hyderabad, with the support of governments of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

This year’s theme for the dialogue is People and Technology: Governance for Tomorrow, reflecting the growing intersection of technology with every aspect of modern life.

South First has an interesting line-up of talks to explore how Information Technology and its far-reaching impact shape society and how India can harness this transformation for progress.

The inaugural edition of Dakshin Dialogues took place in Hyderabad on 17 September 2022, while the second edition was held in Bengaluru on 7 October 2023. The themes for the first and second editions were Is India Truly Federal? and the Delimitation Exercise scheduled for 2026 respectively.

The one-day event begins with an inaugural keynote address by BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder-Chairman of CYIENT.

Dakshin Dialogues-2024 comprises four sessions:

  • Making India a Global Brand: Tamil Nadu’s IT & Digital Services Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan is in a discussion with Phanindra Sama, Co-Founder of redBus on India’s potential to establish itself as a leader in the global tech economy.
  • Skill Gap and Employability: Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KEONICS) Chairperson, Sharat Bachegowda is engaging in a conversation with Professor and Director of IIT Hyderabad, PJ Narayanan. The panel is moderated by IIIT Hyderabad’s Prof Ramesh Loganathan and focuses on the current imbalance between technological demands and the skill sets available in India.
  • Role of State in promoting IT: Kumar Jayant, Additional Chief Secretary of IT department in Tamil Nadu is discussing policy framework for promoting IT industry and the role State governments can play in it, with IIIT Hyderabad professor Ramesh Loganathan.
  • Digital Divide between Rural and Urban: P Rajeeve, Kerala minister for Industries & Law, is highlighting the pressing need to bridge the gap between urban tech hubs and rural communities.
  • Impact of AI on society: Telangana’s minister for IT, Industry and Commerce, Sridhar Babu is in a conversation with LTI Mindtree’s EVP, Jitendra Pucha on the impact that AI can have on the society at large.

Dakshin Dialogues and meaningful conversations

The Dakshin Dialogues Conclave has consistently served as a platform for addressing key concerns of South India, while also bringing national attention to the region’s unique issues.

The first edition featured prominent speakers such as then Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, Dr Shashi Tharoor, and KT Rama Rao, delving into topics of political and social significance.

The second edition in Bengaluru was inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and saw the participation of the state’s Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, Justice J Chelameshwar, Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, a d Khushboo Sundar, among others.

Meanwhile, Dakshin Healthcare Summit was held on 3 August 2024, marking a significant expansion into the healthcare sector, with speakers like Sangita Reddy and Dr D Nageshwara Reddy speaking.
