Dakshin Health Summit 2025
The second edition of South First’s Dakshin Health Summit will be held at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG) at Gachibowli in Hyderabad on Sunday, 9 November.
Themed “Bridging Knowledge and Care in Dermatology,” the event will bring together dermatologists, aesthetic practitioners, policymakers, and healthcare professionals. Dakshin Health Summit – 2025 aims to foster meaningful dialogue on key challenges facing the field, from unqualified practices and steroid misuse to the growing influence of social media on treatment decisions.
The summit will feature a series of insightful sessions covering some of the most pressing issues and emerging trends in dermatology and aesthetics. Key discussions will include quackery in dermatology, exploring unqualified problems, practices, regulatory challenges, and the importance of ethical standards in clinical care.
Another session on Early Onset of Hair Loss will examine the growing concern of premature hair loss among young Indians, touching upon lifestyle and genetic causes, and effective treatment strategies.
Cosmetic Dermatology Trends and Transformation will highlight innovations ranging from minimally invasive procedures to AI-driven personalisation in skincare and aesthetics.
A critical discussion on Topical Steroid Misuse in Dermatology will analyse the misuse of steroids, unregulated access, and explore opportunities for regional collaboration across South Asia. The session will delve into Skincare and Skin Ageing, focusing on preventive skin health, longevity science, and tailored therapies for Indian skin types.
Finally, Skin & Hair Treatment in the Age of Social Media will assess the influence of online beauty trends, DIY skincare culture, and the growing risks of misinformation shaping public perceptions and treatment choices.
The inaugural Dakshin Health Summit, held in August 2024, explored diverse themes ranging from longevity and AI-assisted diagnosis to the impact of fast food on infertility. Building on its success, the summit continues as an annual platform to discuss emerging healthcare challenges and foster dialogue among professionals, policymakers, and practitioners.
The event will have distinguished medical experts from across India to discuss key themes in dermatology and public health. Among the featured speakers are Dr. Amarendra Pandey from Jabalpur, part of the session on Quackery in Dermatology: Problems and Pathways, and Dr. Rajetha Damisetty, who will deliver the keynote address and lead a discussion on Steroid Misuse in Dermatology.
Dr. Kavish Chouhan, a leading dermatologist and hair transplant surgeon, will speak during the Fireside Chat on Tackling Early-Onset Hair Loss at the summit. The session on Cosmetic Dermatology: Trends and Transformations will feature leading voices such as Dr. Maya Vedamurthy from Chennai, Dr. Sharon Baisil, an epidemiologist and AI expert in public health and Dr. Jenny Mathew,a clinical and cosmetic dermatologist, both from Kerala.
The Skin Health & Aging panel will include renowned specialists Dr. Malavika Kohli and Dr. Kalpana Sarangi, among others. Dr. Sivaranjini Santosh, a senior paediatrician and first aid trainer from Hyderabad, will join the discussion on Social Media and Skin & Hair Health. Together, these experts represent the depth and diversity of India’s medical community, highlighting innovation, ethics, and emerging trends in dermatology.
