Synopsis: Opposition MPs protested outside Parliament against Tuesday’s police action and reiterated demands for the resignation of the Education Minister. CJP leaders hold second round of talks with government.
Day after the unprecedented police action against Opposition parliamentarians during a sit-in outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence, the MPs, led by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, continued their protest outside the Parliament on Wednesday, 22, July, reiterating demands for the resignation of the PM and Union Ministers Amit Shah and Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Opposition MPs were dressed in black and carried placards demanding the resignation of Education Minister Pradhan over the NEET-UG paper leak.
Even as the government conceded to the Opposition demand and agreed to hold a discussion in the Parliament on the NEET paper leak issue, the Congress on Tuesday asserted that any discussion will happen only after the resignation of the minister.
“Students are our top priority. We want a detailed discussion in the House on the NEET paper leak issue,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said in Lok Sabha amid Opposition protests.
Among the demands raised by the Opposition is an apology from the prime minister for the police action on students and the withdrawal of cases filed by the Delhi Police against the CJP protesters.
Meanwhile, the leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) are holding a second round of talks with representatives from the government on Wednesday, reported NDTV. The CJP protest is continuing at the Jantar Mantar.

Congress workers across the country held protests against the manhandling of its parliamentarians by the Delhi police during the protest on Tuesday. Protests were organised in Assam, Kerala, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana, Jharkhand, and other states.
LoP Rahul Gandhi and several other Opposition MPs, including Priyanka Gandhi and KC Venugopal, were forcibly removed by the Delhi police after they refused to back down from their sit-in protest outside the PM’s residence. Chief ministers of Kerala and Karnataka and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav were among the leaders present at the protest. The leaders were detained, dragged and forced into a bus by Delhi police personnel, sparking widespread anger and criticism.
