The session, which began on 20 July, was repeatedly disrupted by Opposition protests over police brutality against student protesters during the Sansad Chalo march and allegations of theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The Lok Sabha met for the final day of the Monsoon session for just 3 minutes and 40 seconds on Thursday, 13 August, before Speaker Om Birla adjourned it sine die (indefinitely), drawing the curtain on one of the stormiest sessions the incumbent NDA government has faced since it came to power in 2014.
As soon as the House met, all six stanzas of Vande Mataram were played over the speakers. Birla then adjourned the House without delivering the customary valedictory address on its performance and productivity during the session.
The session began on 20 July and saw repeated protests by Opposition protests, primarily by the Congress, which demanded accountability from the government, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, over police brutality against student protesters during the Sansad Chalo march on 20 July and allegations of theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Modi and Shah were present in the Lok Sabha for the first time since the Monsoon session began.
During the session, the NDA government pushed through 11 Bills in the Lok Sabha and 12 in the Rajya Sabha, with little to no debate.
