Synopsis: The Hind Rajab Foundation has urged Indian authorities to arrest Israeli reservist Eitan Gilboa, currently in Himachal Pradesh, for alleged war crimes in Gaza. The Belgium-based group claims Gilboa filmed and celebrated demolitions of civilian homes, violating the Geneva Conventions. India, as a signatory, is obligated to act, the foundation said, citing constitutional duties to uphold international law.

Indian authorities have been urged to detain an Israeli reservist, Eitan Gilboa, currently holidaying in Himachal Pradesh, over his alleged involvement in war crimes in Gaza.

The Belgium-based pro-Palestine NGO Hind Rajab Foundation, which pursues legal action against those accused of atrocities against Palestinians, lodged a complaint with the police, the Union home ministry and India’s immigration bureau demanding the immediate arrest of Gilboa.

According to the foundation, Gilboa “personally carried out and celebrated the systematic demolition of entire residential blocks” in Gaza, acts they argue amount to war crimes under the 1960 Geneva Conventions Act.

‘He filmed atrocities, his family shared them’

The group claims Gilboa filmed himself ordering and executing demolitions in Khan Younis and Rafah, later shared on social media by his mother and the rest of the family members. These actions were allegedly carried out as retribution and dedicated to fallen Israeli soldiers.

Israel’s military campaign in Gaza began in October 2023 following Hamas’s attack that killed 1,200 people and saw hostages being taken. Since then, Israeli strikes have left more than 75,000 dead.

A UN commission of inquiry in September 2025 concluded that Israel had committed genocide, a finding Israel rejected. In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over alleged war crimes.

The Hind Rajab Foundation argues that Gilboa’s presence in India contradicts Article 51(c) of the Indian Constitution, which directs the state to uphold international law.

“India now holds both the suspect and the obligation to act,” the organisation stated.
