Assembly elections in Karnataka are barely a few months away and political parties have started prepping.

With Bharat Jodo Yatra exiting Karnataka, it is back to poll prep for the state unit of the Congress. Even before it plans a grand homecoming for newly elected AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, aspiring candidates have started making a beeline with requests for a ticket.

A couple of aspiring candidates told South First what KPCC President DK Shivakumar’s basic expectation from a candidate is.

Two Cs. Cash and Caste. Shivakumar, it seems, is clear that to win in a seat, the candidate should have either undisputed support of caste and communities within the constituency or enough cash to run a campaign by themselves.

“What about cadre? Isn’t that the ‘C’ DK Shivakumar should also be looking at?” an office bearer of Karnataka Congress, who hopes to contest the upcoming elections, asked.

That’s for DKShee, as he is called in Kannada, to see.
