Posters have come up in Hyderabad enquiring about the whereabouts of BRS supremo K Chandrashekar.

Posted, apparently put up by those owing allegiance to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, said KCR — as he is popularly known — has not moved out of his house even as floods triggered by torrential rains ravaged Telangana. The posters also noted that he had been missing when floods brought Hyderabad to its knees.

However, blaming KCR will not absolve the state government of its failure to reach out to the victims. Indeed, no government can cater to all flood victims. But the effort seemed to be lacking the required purpose in some instances, like when nine people were precariously stranded on the Muneru bridge.

It was not the government that rescued the stranded people, but an ordinary backhoe operator. He risked his life and brought them to safety even though at one stage it appeared that the swirling water would wash away the heavy equipment.

At a recent review meeting in Mahabubnagar, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy slammed KCR for not stepping out of his house. His harsh comments came as a surprise. He appeared to accuse the BRS of not going to the rescue of the people as though it was the Opposition party’s responsibility.

Perhaps, Revanth is yet to come to terms that he is the chief minister.

Revanth should be thankful that KCR is staying indoors. If he steps out, Revanth could be at the receiving end of a torrent of invectives. KCR has a better grip on the Telugu language and knows a greater number of abusive words than Revanth.

Probably Revanth wants to hear KCR abuse him, or he would not be making the demand. KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao are already doing their bit to abuse Revanth every day. Perhaps, it is not enough.
