The shooting of a documentary on AICC general secretary KC Venugopal has been abruptly halted just as it entered its final phase. The plan was to release it before the counting of votes on 4 May.
Sources said the brakes were applied following directions from the Congress high command. Venugopal has remained silent on the development.
The documentary reportedly traced his political journey, featuring voices from leaders, analysts and people across sections. A political expert who participated, told South First that he was approached to ”remember Venugopal” and he had shared thoughts on his role in protests and instances of police action against him.
”They have every right to profile their leader,” he said, adding that he is not sure if the documentary would ever see the light of day. ”Maybe it’s just paused to avoid unnecessary discussions.”
Meanwhile, Congress offices like Indira Bhavan and Rajiv Bhavan are turning into unofficial poster galleries- with visuals both backing and opposing VD Satheesan in the Chief Minister race.

Meanwhile, Congress veteran PJ Kurien added a twist to the ongoing drama.
After backing Ramesh Chennithala for the top post, he has now said that the support was merely ”coincidental” and that the high command would take a final call. Kurien’s “coincidence” had, however, made headlines.
Kurien expressed confidence over the Congress-led UDF returning to power in Kerala with a majority bigger than what exit polls have suggested.
Inside the Congress camp, it’s less about calm confidence and more about high-speed discussions: Chief Ministerial candidates, cabinet combinations and loyalist arithmetic all in play. The CPI(M) is keeping things unusually quiet, especially its otherwise hyperactive cyber wing.

And then there’s the BJP—calmly ignoring the exit polls. Despite predictions not showing a major breakthrough, the party is already in celebration mode. In Ernakulam, the BJP district unit has ordered 2,000 laddus for counting day.
Asked about the optimism, party office-bearers said the BJP expects to be a ”decisive factor” this time.
”We don’t believe in exit polls. Our leadership has asked us to prepare for celebrations” they said, adding that posters of leaders such as Rajeev Chandrasekhar, K Surendran, Sobha Surendran, Padmaja Venugopal, R Sreelekha and Kummanam Rajasekharan are already ready.
