K Kavitha BL Santosh

It now appears to be a case of who shall strike first. On one side is BL Santosh, the powerful general secretary (organisation) of the BJP, and on the other is K Kavita, daughter of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

With most of her aides having already been interrogated or arrested in the liquor scam, BJP leaders claim it’s only a matter of time before the chief minister’s daughter is summoned in connection with the Delhi liquor scandal.

In what appears to be a tit-for-tat move, the SIT formed by the Telangana government to probe the Cash for MLAs case, issued summons to Santosh and he has indicated his readiness to appear at a mutually convenient date.

Will the SIT merely question Santosh and leave it at that, or take further steps? In which case, will central agencies too step up the heat and corner Kavita?

What if the BJP chooses to let Santosh face the investigation, a strategy that would give it the option of going all out against the TRS leaders, Kavita included?

These are the many questions for which answers may be found in the days to come.
