Dr John Brittas is an eminent Parliamentarian and a Senior Media professional. He represents Kerala in the upper house, Rajya Sabha. He has been highly lauded for his active involvement in the proceedings of the House and was publicly eulogized by Venkaiah Naidu, the then Vice-President and Chairman of Rajya Sabha. Brittas was bestowed with the Sansad Ratna, best parliamentarian award for his contributions. John Brittas has media experience spanning more than three decades. He currently holds the post of Managing Director and Chief Editor of Kairali Network. He also holds directorship of IBDF and in the apex body of the broadcasting and digital industry in Kerala. Moreover, he is a member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications & Information Technology and the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. He held important positions in his extensive career including that of the post of Business Head at Star-Disney India. Besides, he worked as Advisor to the Chief Minister of Kerala between 2016 and 2021. He is mindful and passionate about socio-political issues and regularly contributes to national media and participates in debates. He has an impeccable academic record as he passed out graduation and post-graduation with gold medal. Thereafter, he proceeded to the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for MPhil and PhD He was awarded doctorate by JNU for his thesis on media trends. As a journalist, he has been fortunate to report on tumultuous events that shaped and reshaped India. He worked from Delhi and covered important events like the demolition of Babri Masjid, Gujarat riots and various General Elections. His reportage from Pakistan and Nepal garnered national attention. He was the first Indian journalist to reach Baghdad to cover the US - Iraq conflict which eventually led to the dethronement of Saddam Hussein. His reportage on Iraq crisis titled “Bagdad Dairy” got extensive mention in the National Media. He also accompanied Indian Prime Ministers to US, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, etc.
