Synopsis: Teachers appointed under the sports quota in the Andhra Pradesh Mega DSC 2025 have dismissed allegations that they secured jobs with fraudulent certificates. At a Vijayawada meeting, the teachers cited their sporting records, certificates and past recruitment practices to defend their appointments and urged those making allegations to verify their credentials.
Teachers appointed under the sports quota in the Andhra Pradesh Mega Department of School Education (DSC) 2025 have dismissed allegations that they secured jobs with fraudulent certificates, saying their appointments were made as per the rules of horizontal reservation.
At a round-table meeting in Vijayawada, teachers from several districts said a campaign was being run against those selected under the quota.
They alleged that some people were deliberately spreading false propaganda against them and urged television channels and political leaders making allegations against them to verify the certificates they had earned.
“We won medals in sports through hard work. Please do not force politics on us,” one of the teachers said.
The controversy concerns 372 teacher posts filled under the sports quota in the Andhra Pradesh Mega DSC 2025 without a written examination. Allegations have since emerged that some candidates used fake certificates or posed as sports persons to secure appointments.
The Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association has questioned the eligibility of around 100 selected candidates and filed a Public Interest Litigation in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. It has asked the court to direct skill tests for candidates selected under the sports quota. The court is scheduled to hear the matter next week.
The opposition YSRCP has also alleged that several sports associations issued fraudulent certificates.

Several teachers said the allegations had caused particular distress after the difficulties they had faced to reach the level at which they qualified for the jobs. They said being called “fake” hurt them more than injuries suffered while competing in sports.
The teachers also cited direct recruitment through sports in Central government departments, including the Postal Department, IT, DRDO and Railways, as evidence that such recruitment is an established system.
At the meeting, the teachers displayed photographs and videos of themselves receiving certificates from former Sports Minister Roja and former SAAP Chairman Byreddy Siddharth Reddy during the previous government.
They also showed photographs and videos of Roja and Byreddy Siddharth Reddy inviting and felicitating athletes at Kondapalli Khilla after they won medals in softball.
The teachers also asked why two members of the same family should not have secured government jobs.
They also objected to claims involving the card game Bridge. They said some people, apparently unaware that Bridge is a recognised sport, were spreading false claims that jobs had been given to people who merely played cards. They urged people to understand the game before making such allegations.
“Those who study hard know the value of jobs,” one of the teachers said.
