Synopsis: The Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry in response to the question, “The details of revenue generated and employment created through production, marketing and sale of above products since identification under ODOP”, said, “According to the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), exports of marine products through Visakhapatnam Port accounted for $2.19 billion out of India’s total seafood exports of $7.38 billion during FY 2024. The corresponding share was 50.87 percent in FY 2025 and 48.89 percent in FY 2026.”
The Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry informed the Parliament, that the share of marine product exports through Visakhapatnam Port jumped from 29.67 percent in FY 2024 to to 50.87 percent in FY 2025, an increase of over 21 percentage points in just one year, highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s rapidly growing export strength.
The Union government further informed Parliament that the port continued to maintain a dominant 48.89 percent share in FY 2026, highlighting sustained export performance.
The figures were shared in response to a question raised by Lok Sabha MP Prabhakar Reddy Vemireddy about One District One Product.

In a statement, the MP noted that “The sharp increase reflects the renewed momentum witnessed under the TDP-led NDA Government in Andhra Pradesh, transforming Visakhapatnam Port into a major driver of India’s seafood exports. In contrast to the position inherited post FY 2024 (2023-2024) under YSRCP rule, the port now handled more than half(50.87 percent) of India’s marine exports in FY 2025 under the NDA, demonstrating the State’s growing competitiveness in global markets and its strengthening export infrastructure.”

The parliamentary reply further highlighted that Andhra Pradesh has identified 99 ODOP products across its 26 districts, reflecting the State’s focus on promoting local industries and expanding export opportunities through value-added products.
The Union government also highlighted that several steps have been undertaken to promote and enhance the visibility of
products identified under the ODOP initiative, including the products identified from Andhra Pradesh.
“These steps include facilitating participation in domestic and international exhibitions, capacity building initiatives in collaboration with various agencies, e-commerce onboarding drives for the Government e Marketplace (GeM) – ODOP Bazaar, which showcases and stocks India’s best ODOP products. For promoting ODOP at the international level, engagement with MEA and Indian Missions abroad, virtual buyer-seller meets, and participation in international exhibitions have been undertaken. Also, various ODOP Products have been included in gifting at multilateral and bilateral meetings in India to popularize them internationally,” the response added.
