Synopsis: To ease long queues, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) launched kiosk machines on 23 June at laddu counters in Tirumala. In a step towards enhancing pilgrim convenience, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has launched kiosk machines at laddu counters in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh.

Unveiled on Monday, 23 June, this pilgrim-friendly initiative aims to streamline the purchase of the iconic Tirupati laddus, reducing wait times and promoting cashless transactions through a user-friendly interface.

The TTD, which manages the world-renowned Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, has been improving facilities for lakhs of devotees who visit the shrine annually. The temple distributes sacred laddus in thousands daily. However, long queues at laddu counters have been a persistent challenge, prompting TTD to adopt technology-driven solutions.

The introduction of kiosk machines follows other modernization efforts, such as online darshan bookings and digital payment systems.

How to use the kiosk machines

The newly installed laddu kiosk machines allow devotees to purchase additional laddus using Unified Payments Interface (UPI), ensuring a seamless, cashless experience.

All that a devotee has to do is to locate a kiosk machine near laddu distribution counter where one is required to select darshan ticket option. The system verifies ticket details, allowing the purchase of up to two additional laddus per person listed on the ticket.

Those without a darshan ticket can purchase up to two laddus by entering a valid Aadhaar number. The system directs users to a UPI payment page to complete the transaction.

After completing the payment, pilgrims receive a printed receipt, which they can present at the laddu counters to collect their prasadam.

The initiative is designed to minimize waiting time, making the process efficient for the thousands of devotees who visit the temple daily, an official release said.
