The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Trust Board (TTD) is all set to develop Tirumala into a planned model town with spiritual ambience.
TTD executive officer J Syamala Rao on Thursday, 21 November, said that there was a need to improve the spiritual ambience of Tirumala as it is the seat of world famous Lord Venkateswara Shrine.
Speaking to media persons at the TTD’s administrative building in Tirupati, the EO said that Tirumala needed to be developed into a model town. “There is an urgent need for a vision document. The TTD will set up an urban development and town planning wing for this purpose,” he said.
The EO said there should be multi-level or smart parking facilities for the new buildings and constructions to avoid traffic congestion and make the footpaths pedestrian-friendly. “Even some old cottages, RTC Bus station need to be re-developed. We have also appointed one senior most and a retired Town Planning Officer as our advisor to carry out the task in a professional manner, keeping in view the futuristic needs for the next few decades”, he stressed.
The EO said as such the TTD board has also taken a decision to spruce up spiritual ambience in Tirumala by naming the existing cottages after divine names. “For this purpose, TTD is contemplating to give a list of about 150 divine names so that the donors of cottages could select from among them to name the cottages,” he said.
The EO also said that the legacy waste, which has piled up since the last a few years will be cleared in the next two to three months in Tirumala. “The ultimate goal of TTD is to ensure that every inch of Tirumala should reflect its spiritual significance,” he asserted.
