With the YSRCP actively announcing around 66 Assembly and 16 Parliamentary in-charges, the TDP-JSP alliance — pending the BJP joining — has been experiencing setbacks.

With the cadre reportedly facing confusion due to the party’s alliance dilemma, the TDP-JSP combine has decided to announce its first set of candidates on Saturday, according to sources.

Reliable sources informed South First that the TDP was expected to announce around 50 Assembly in-charges, and the JSP would announce around 15. The party has now confirmed the first list of candidates will be announced on Saturday.

The TDP-JSP alliance believes that Saturday’s Pournami is an auspicious day, and would be advantageous to it.

The announcement comes amid the YSRCP making advances with rallying in the state with its one-word election campaign “Siddham”, rejuvenating the cadre to prepare for the forthcoming elections.

The time factor

Both parties are also scheduled to conduct a joint public meeting in Tadepalligudem on 28 February, which they claim to be the largest gathering in recent times.

The source further claimed that the TDP-JSP’s alliance with the BJP was confirmed.

However, talks with the saffron party over seats might take some time.

Even the TDP-JSP alliance has taken some time to coalesce. It began to come together with a meeting last October between Chandrababu Naidu and JSP chief Pawan Kalyan.

The alliance appeared to be all but a done deal three months later — in January this year — with lengthy dialogues between the two leaders.
