An unidentified person hurled a stone at TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu’s vehicle during his roadshow at Nandigama in Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district on Friday, 4 November.

Naidu was unhurt, but his Chief Security Officer (CSO) Madhu Babu, who was standing next to the TDP leader on the open-top vehicle, suffered an injury below his chin. He was administered first aid at the scene.

Tension gripped the area briefly following the incident. The stone was hurled while Naidu was addressing the roadshow from the vehicle. There was a sudden power outage when the stone was pelted at him.

The roadshow was part of the TDP’s campaign, ‘Badude Badudu, highlighting the failures of the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP government in the state.

Following the incident, a visibly angry Naidu said that the Jagan government was trying to create a hostile atmosphere as they had done in Kuppam. The former chief minister asserted that he would not allow it to happen.

Call to defeat YSRCP

“YSRCP workers, like thieves, threw stones at the convoy. The YSRCP wants to rule the state by foisting false cases and by attacking TDP leaders. But the TDP is not a party that fears such empty threats. You can file any number of cases. What happened to the false case registered against senior TDP leader, Mr Ayyanna Patrudu”, Naidu asked.

The Opposition leader said that he had taken the state forward with a vision after the division of Andhra Pradesh. “The YSRCP is now adopting a destructive attitude and is damaging the prospects of the state”, he said.

He urged the people to defeat the YSRCP in the coming elections since all the sections in Andhra Pradesh have been facing deep trouble in every aspect under the current dispensation.

Asserting that only the TDP could bring in a peaceful atmosphere in the state, Naidu called upon all sections of people to join hands to save Andhra Pradesh from the clutches of the YSRCP.

Huge turnout at roadshow

The TDP launched the ‘Badude Badudu’ in May 2022. Naidu and other party leaders, including his son Nara Lokesh, have been touring the state as part of the campaign and addressing roadshows.

On Friday, a huge crowd attended Naidu’s Roadshow at the Gandhi Centre in Nandigam. “The foundation that I had laid in Hyderabad during my tenure created huge wealth in the city, and the poor are now benefitting from the growth”, Naidu said.

But now, Chief Minister Jagan has incurred debts amounting to a whooping ₹8 lakh crore. “Ultimately, the common man will have to repay these debts”, he added.

Naidu wondered how a leader who had incurred huge debts could develop North Andhra. He alleged that the local MLAs were looting the whole district.

“The state does not need an inhuman chief minister like Jagan, and all the sections, including farmers, are suffering a lot now,” he added.

He questioned the fate of the Muktyal Lift Irrigation scheme that was launched during the TDP regime and expressed surprise over the closure of Anna Canteens meant to feed the poor.

Z-plus security cover for Naidu

Ever since the Naxal attack in 2003, Naidu has been under Z-plus security cover. The National Security Guards have been providing his security.

As many as 183 personnel form his security detail —  with 135 in Vijayawada and 48 in Hyderabad.
