Jana Sena Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, on Tuesday, 11 November, reiterated his long-standing demand for the establishment of a Sanatana Dharma Parirakshana Board, calling it a crucial institutional step toward protecting dharmic traditions and ensuring greater community involvement in temple management.
In the wake of the recent controversies surrounding the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Pawan Kalyan, in a post on X, said that the previous TTD Board’s “colossal administrative failure and immoral actions” had “deeply hurt and shattered the sanctity of Tirumala.”
Interestingly, Pawan Kalyan seemed to have overlooked the fact that the TDP-led NDA was already in power when the ghee rejected by the TTD in July 2024, was rerouted, relabelled and re-supplied disguised as fresh ghee by different companies in August 2024, according to the remand report filed with the Nellore Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court.
The deputy chief minister, however, went on to say that the “painful episode” (allowing the supply of adulterated ghee to the TTD) must serve as a “profound lesson” for the present Board, which must work with sincerity and vigilance to restore the sanctity of Tirumala and regain the trust of millions of devotees.
In a strongly worded appeal, the Jana Sena chief said that for everyone involved in TTD administration — from the Board and bureaucrats to the Executive Officer (EO), Joint Executive Officer (JEO), employees, contractors and vendors — “their role is not merely a designation or title, but a sacred opportunity to do divine service for millions of Sanatanis.”
He urged the TTD leadership to ensure total transparency in all activities, including financial statements, audits, quality control, property management and donation tracking. “All details must be made publicly available,” he said, stressing that transparency and accountability are the foundation stones of restoring faith in temple administration.
While reaffirming his proposal for a Sanatana Dharma Parirakshana Board, Pawan Kalyan emphasised that the duty to uphold Dharma rests collectively on every Sanatani. “The responsibility to safeguard and stand for Dharma remains the collective responsibility of every single Sanatani,” he said.
Expressing his vision for the future, he said, “It remains my sincere hope that someday all our temples across the country are managed by the community — by the devotees themselves. This is our duty.”
