Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday, 10 July, addressed the state’s second Mega Parents and Teachers Meeting (PTM), urging parents to treat schools as sacred spaces vital to the future of both their children and the nation.
“Schools are not just for our children, but for generations to come,” Naidu said, speaking at a large gathering in Puttaparthi. “Those who have benefitted from a school must give back to it.”
Sharing a personal anecdote, the Chief Minister admitted that his responsibilities as an MLA had kept him away from attending his son Nara Lokesh’s parent-teacher meetings. “It was my wife who had to shoulder the responsibility of his education,” he said.
Naidu, who described himself as “biased towards women,” also highlighted that most of his government’s welfare schemes are designed with women at the centre.
Promising a transformation in public education, he declared, “This government will take responsibility for making government schools better than private schools.”
