Synopsis: YS Jagan further referring to the Sai Krishna custodial death case, the recent suicide of Kranti Kumar and other deaths in the state due to alleged police excess, said, “All these are a mirror to the circumstances present in the state, a mirror to the deteriorating law and order situation.”
Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that rule of fear has gripped the state. He was addressing the media in Tadepalli on Tuesday, 1 July.
Training guns at Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Jagan said, the rule of law has taken a backseat, while rule of fear is prevailing in the state.
“People have also lost the faith that justice will be prevailed if they approach police stations,” he claimed, adding, “It has not happened incidentally, Chandrababu Naidu has been suppressing the voices that questioned him regarding the irregularities in his policies and the Super 6 schemes, and for that, he has been weaponizing the law and police.”
YS Jagan further referring to the Sai Krishna custodial death case, the recent suicide of Kranti Kumar and other deaths in the state due to alleged police excess, said, “All these are a mirror to the circumstances present in the state, a mirror to the deteriorating law and order situation.”
“A young man named Sai Krishna was brought from Markapuram and taken to Krishna Lanka Police Station, where he was locked up to death under the supervision of CI Nagaraju,” Jagan said adding, “The mother had complained to the Vijayawada CP and DGP, alleging that her son was locked up to death, but the police officials did not pay attention.”
“They killed him, and didn’t even give his family his body, or the ashes,” the YSRCP chief criticised.
Jagan claims conspiracy
Claiming conspiracy to destroy evidence, Jagan added, “They alleged that the CCTV footage at the police station was not working. If the footage was deleted, wouldn’t there be records in the Comment Control Centre? If not what about the CCTV footages of bus stops, junctions, and railway stations in Vijayawada? Through these video footages they can find where did they take Sai Krishna’s body right? Why is the SIT not working in that direction?”
Further calling out the alleged hypocrisy, Jagan said, “Initially, when I met the family, they said I was supporting a rowdy sheeter, but once there was an uproar, the Chief Minister himself met the mother at secretariat.”
Jagan also alleged that, “If one looks at the remand report, it is clear, how the investigation is being done in a way to weaken the case, so that, the people in power are protected,” adding, “CI is saved by CP, CP is saved by DGP and DGP is saved by Chandrababu. These prove that law and order has collapsed.”
He demanded that the CI, CP, DGP, and Chandrababu should also be held responsible in this case.
YS Jagan also criticised the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral roles. He claimed that a conspiracy is being carried out to remove the votes of YSRCP sympathizers in the name of SIR.
Jagan termed it extremely dangerous to target the right to vote—a cornerstone of democracy—for political gain. He stated that there is an attempt to strip the poor of their rights by deleting their votes.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Jagan remarked that massive irregularities are taking place during the enumeration process. He alleged that enumeration forms are being recorded as issued without actually being handed over to the voters. He expressed concern that this could lead to the removal of thousands of voters’ names from the electoral rolls.
“Does Chandrababu have any humanity? Would he delete the votes of the poor just for selfish political gain?” he questioned.
Jagan asked how the poor could continue to receive benefits from welfare schemes if their votes were deleted. He criticized the move as an attempt to disenfranchise the public, equating it to an action that undermines citizenship itself.
Jagan alleged that the TDP is interfering with the voters’ list using a special app. He claimed that efforts are being made to register voters favorable to them while removing the names of those likely to vote against them. He remarked that such actions weaken the democratic system and undermine the credibility of the electoral process.
During the press conference, Jagan played an audio recording of a purported phone conversation between Minister Narayana and Nellore municipal commissioner. He stated that this conversation reveals how political pressure is being exerted on the administrative machinery during the voter registration process.
Mavigun v/s Amaravati
YS Jagan answering a question, said that the next elections will be held between Mavigan (Machilipatnam, Vijayawada, and Guntur) and Amaravati. He revealed that they will also put Mavigan as their capital in the manifesto.
“We stand by it, we are for Mavigun, we are for Mavigun, everyone who is for Mavigun will vote for YSRCP, and everyone who is for Amaravati will vote for Chandrababu Naidu. We will make it an election issue, for them, we will put it up in the manifesto also. Let’s see, how people will vote.”
