Though the Opposition TDP in Andhra Pradesh has been aggressively pushing its “Jagan Pani Aipoindhi” (Jagan’s Days Are Over) campaign for quite some time now, YSRCP leaders and cadres do not appear unduly upset.

On the contrary, they seem upbeat. The reason? The results of a “mega people’s survey” conducted by lakhs of YSRCP workers over the last three weeks under the banner “Jagananne Maa Bhavishyathu” (Jagan is our Future),

YSRCP leaders claimed that 1.45 crore households participated in the survey, and over 80 percent of the families pledged their support to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy by giving missed calls, as requested.

Thousands of “Praja Maddatu” (Public Support) booklets are now on display across all 175 constituencies, the YSRCP has said.

The members of the ruling YSRCP — from booth-level to elected representatives, including MPs and MLAs — have been busy in Andhra Pradesh since 7 April with the “Jagananne Maa Bhavishyatthu” survey.

It has been described as the most extensive door-to-door campaign by any political party in the country.

After MLC election setback

After the YSRCP witnessed consecutive setbacks in the MLC polls in the graduates’ segments and in the MLAs category, the new campaign appears to have provided a much-needed impetus to the ruling party, lifting the clouds of depression that appeared to be settling on them.

“Indian politics have never seen such a political survey. The outcome is interesting and is going to set a trend for other political parties,” said Rajya Sabha member Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy.

“In such a short time, 1.45 crore households participated in the survey and we received over 1.10 crore missed calls. This shows people’s trust, confidence and belief in the leadership of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy,” Rami Reddy told South First.

“In my 40 years of political life, I have never seen a people’s survey on this scale. Everyone who has been associated with this drive must feel proud of what they have achieved,” he added.

Launch of campaign

YSRCP launched its unique campaign across the state on 7 April, with the party’s grassroots army being tasked to knock on the doors of all 1.6 crore households in Andhra Pradesh to ask them who they trusted with their and their children’s future.

“This milestone wasn’t achieved overnight. The party trained seven lakh grassroots workers for over six months and meticulously mapped the cadre at each level — households, sachivalayams, manuals, Assembly constituencies. and districts,” said MLC Marri Rajasekhar.

“This strategic and calibrated plan of action is what helped us get a rousing response from the people,” he added.

Elaborating on the results, Vijayawada West MLA Vellampally Srinivas said, “The support of a staggering 1.45 crore families is an endorsement of the work done by the Jagan government. The results show that the people of Andhra Pradesh trust the Chief Minister with their and their children’s future.”

Kakinada, NTR, Bapatla, Chittoor, Anantapur, and YSR Kadapa are the top districts that saw maximum household participation in the mega people’s survey.

“In fact, India’sit is thrilling to see that the slogan, ‘Maa Nammakam Nuvee Jagan’ (loosely, In Jagan We Trust), which was coined by the people themselves, is reverberating loudly on the ground today. The mega survey result is an endorsement of CM Jagan’s credibility,” said Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu.

The campaign details

The four key elements of the campaign:

  • Past Vs. Present Pamphlet comparing YSRCP & TDP regimes
  • Praja Maddathu Pusthakam: A survey questionnaire for feedback
  • Door and mobile stickers
  • Missed call to 8296082960

The comparison pamphlet:

The aim of the pamphlet was to reach out to every household and showcase how the standard of living in the state has improved, compared to what it was during the TDP regime.

Praja Maddathu Pusthakam:

After the pamphlet distribution, the cadres were expected to conduct the survey.

Maddathu Pusthakam — a five-point questionnaire — wherein people were asked if they trusted Chief Minister Jagan Mohan with their future. This survey was be done irrespective of caste, religion, and region.

JMB Stickers & Missed Call campaign:

Those who expressed their satisfaction with Jagan’s government were given a receipt. Gruha Saradhis, YSRCP volunteers in charge of a certain number of households, will paste the door and mobile stickers of Jagan with the permission of the families.

After the households gave a missed call on 8296082960 and pledged their support to Jagan, they received a message in acknowledgement.
